Our Programs
YOUTH SOCCER DEVELOPMENT | AGES 4–16
Soberano Soccer Club provides soccer training and development opportunities for boys and girls ages 4–16, from young children experiencing soccer for the first time to older players looking for continued development and competitive opportunities.
All Soberano Soccer Club practices are held in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
We provide opportunities for both recreational and competitive soccer, allowing players to develop in an environment appropriate for their age, experience, skill level, and individual goals.
Our current training groups are U8, U10, U12, and U14.
Players are placed in the appropriate training group based on age, experience, skill level, development, and team availability. Training groups and competitive team eligibility may differ depending on league age requirements.
Our training philosophy is inspired by the passion, creativity, technical ability, and style of Brazilian soccer, with an emphasis on individual development, teamwork, discipline, and love for the game.
U8 DEVELOPMENT
Our youngest development group — players may begin as young as age 4.
Our U8 program introduces young players to soccer in a fun, positive, and supportive environment.
Players work on ball control, dribbling, passing, shooting, coordination, movement, teamwork, confidence, and a basic understanding of the game.
For our youngest players, the priority is creating a positive first experience with soccer while helping them become comfortable with the ball and excited to learn.
U10 DEVELOPMENT
Our U10 program builds on fundamental soccer skills while introducing players to a deeper understanding of the game.
Training focuses on ball mastery, passing and receiving, dribbling, shooting, positioning, game awareness, decision-making, teamwork, and communication.
Players may also have opportunities to participate in recreational or competitive leagues, friendly matches, tournaments, and other soccer experiences.
U12 DEVELOPMENT
Our U12 program combines continued technical development with increased tactical understanding and competitive preparation.
Players work on advanced ball control, passing and combination play, attacking and defending, positioning, game awareness, decision-making, communication, discipline, and responsibility.
Players are encouraged to become more independent and take greater responsibility for their development.
U14 DEVELOPMENT
Our oldest training group — training opportunities may extend to players up to age 16.
Our U14 program provides an advanced training environment for older players who want to continue developing their soccer abilities.
Training focuses on technical development, tactical understanding, positioning, team organization, decision-making, physical development, communication, leadership, discipline, and responsibility.
Placement and eligibility for competitive games depend on the player's age and the requirements of the specific league or tournament.
RECREATIONAL & COMPETITIVE SOCCER
Soberano provides opportunities for both recreational and competitive soccer.
Our recreational opportunities focus on development, participation, confidence, teamwork, and enjoyment of the game.

Soberano Soccer Club — One Passion. One Dream.

SOBERANO SOCCER CLUB
Different backgrounds. Different cultures. One Soberano family.
One Passion. One Dream.
OUR STORY
ONE PASSION. ONE DREAM.
Soberano Soccer Club began with a simple idea: to create a place where children could learn, develop, and experience the passion of soccer in an affordable, welcoming, and family-oriented environment.
Founded in New Bedford, Massachusetts, by Carlos Elizei, Soberano was built from his love for the game and his desire to bring the passion, creativity, and technical style of Brazilian soccer to young players in the community.
From the beginning, the goal was never only about creating soccer teams. It was about creating opportunities.
Carlos wanted families to have access to quality soccer development without feeling that competitive youth soccer was out of reach because of cost. He wanted players from different backgrounds, cultures, and levels of experience to have a place where they could belong.
From day one, Carlos was joined by people who believed in that vision. Azeddine Rouhani has been part of the Soberano journey since the beginning, supporting Carlos and helping build the foundation and coaching philosophy of the club.
What started as a passion for teaching the game continues to grow into a diverse soccer family of players, parents, coaches, and supporters.
Today, Soberano provides recreational and competitive soccer opportunities for players ages 4–16, with practices based in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
As we continue to grow, we remain committed to the principles that started Soberano: affordability, player development, respect, inclusion, discipline, community, and a genuine love for soccer.
We are proud to welcome families from different races, cultures, nationalities, and backgrounds. On our fields, everyone deserves to be treated with respect and given the opportunity to be part of our soccer family.
We are building more than teams.
We are developing players, building friendships, supporting families, and creating a soccer community where everyone can belong.
